Pain is a profoundly personal experience

Abandoned hobbies. Strained relationships. Damaged careers. Pain can steal much of what makes you, you.

Our goal is to help provide you with pain relief options to get you back to being yourself again.

You know your pain better than anyone, but maybe there’s an opportunity to learn even more. Let’s start with the basics so we can understand your unique pain and start working toward your personal relief.

Acute vs chronic pain

There are two main categories of pain. Both can manifest as mild, moderate, or severe.

Acute pain lasts less than 6 months

What is acute pain?

Acute pain occurs immediately after an injury — such as a burn or broken bone — or an invasive medical procedure, including surgery or dental work. It typically lasts no longer than two months when treated properly.

Chronic pain lasts more than 6 months

What is chronic pain?

Chronic pain is any type of persistent pain that lasts six months or longer. It’s difficult to treat because no two people experience pain the same way. Individuals who seem to have the same kind of pain may need different treatments.

Treating pain

Pain has many different causes. Normal aging may affect bones and joints in ways that cause pain. Nerve damage or injuries that fail to heal properly can also lead to pain.

Often, the source of pain is so complex, it can be very difficult to diagnose. And because there are so many types and causes of pain, the vast range of different treatments available can be confusing.
