Ways to cope for more comfort

When you’re living with pain every day, coping strategies are important. They are not the same as treatment, but small changes can help reduce stress so you can live better on a daily basis.

Coping skills and strategies can be very personal. Strategies that work for one person may not work for another person. Be open to trying different approaches in order to find the ones that work the best for you.

Develop your support network

Seek out the kinds of support that benefit you most.

  • Online support groups can be an excellent source of emotional support and are accessible at any time of the day or night
  • In-person support groups may be more physically difficult, but connecting with people face to face provides social opportunities and reduces isolation
  • Include family and friends in your support network. They can provide help with physical activities, attend doctor appointments, and provide a sympathetic ear
